The assessment is performed against the process requirements applicable to the foundry operation. AIAG developed CQI-27 specifically to provide common process requirements for automotive foundries and reduce the risk of nonconforming castings reaching OEM customers.

CQI-27 Casting System Assessments Across Foundry Technologies
The current CQI-27 assessment includes ten process tables covering automotive casting technologies such as:

The detailed scope includes iron, steel, aluminum, magnesium and zinc casting processes depending on the applicable process table. Auditor selection is based on the actual foundry process. A high-pressure aluminum die casting operation requires different technical experience from an iron sand foundry. We take that into account before assigning the auditor.
